  Comment: Considering the arguments about the use of the junior Hygrobiidae vs. senior Paelobiidae, including Lawrence & Newton (1995), Nilsson (2006), and Bouchard et al. (2011), it appears that Nilsson (2006:38) was wrong to claim that Art. 40.2 can only apply when the younger name was coined as a new replacement name (Glossary definition of 'substitute name' notes that new OR EXISTING names can be used to replace an older available name). Thus, ITIS is using the junior name under Art. 40.2 (and the junior name is deemed to have the same priority as the older name)  
    Lawrence and Newton (1995) give the authorship of Hygrobiidae as Régimbart, 1878 (1837), indicating it takes priority from from the older name from 1837 it was subsituted for
