  Comment: Stein, D. L., et al. (1991) suggested that the genus Menziesichthys Nalbant and Mayer, 1971, actually belongs in the family Ophidiidae. Stein (personal communication) tentatively suggest that Menziesichthys belongs in the subfamily Neobythitinae
