  Comment: According to Eschmeyer (online Catalog of Fishes, 2005), Crossostoma Sauvage, 1878 is "Apparently preoccupied by Crossostoma Morris & Lycett 1851 in Mollusca, Crossostoma Gosse 1855 in Polychaeta, and by Crossostoma Agassiz 1862 in Colenterata; apparently not replaced [preoccupation not investigated]." However, Crossostoma Sauvage, 1878 is commonly treated as valid, and lacking a replacement name, we follow most authors in treating it as valid
