  Comment: No comment on validity in Eschmeyer (online Catalog of Fishes, 2004-2014). Leis (2006:82-83) notes that Lyosphaera globosa Evermann & Kendall 1898 (the type of the genus Lyosphaera) is 'most likely to be [Chilomycterus] schoepfii based on distribution' and places it in an unofficial group called 'Atlantic Chilomycterus'
