 Comments

Comment: From Smith-Vaniz and Jelks (2006), Citula is an available senior synonym of Pseudocaranx (type species Scomber dentex) but this generic name has not been used for a nominal species of the group since Risso's description. In the interest of nomenclatural stability, the junior name should continue to be used pending a petition to the International Commission of Zoological Nomenclature to conserve the more familiar generic name Pseudocaranx
