  Comment: Photogenis eurystomus Jordan, 1877 was considered a synonym of Notropis venustus cercostima Cope, 1868 by Gibbs, 1957. Eschmeyer's Catalog of Fishes, 2021 has it a valid species Cyprinella eurystoma (Jordan, 1877) based on Gilbert, 1998, but others await taxonomic revision (Kristmundsdóttir and Gold, 1996; Schönhuth and Mayden, 2010; Page et al., 2013)
