 Comments

Comment: Melipona amalthaea (Silvestri, 1904) is a subsequent combination of Trigona amalthaea referencing Silvestri's (1904) apparent attribution of taxon authorship of Trigona amalthaea to Olivier or "(Ol.) Jurine" 1789 on page 143. Olivier's role in describing the species is unclear with respect to the name and the publication, and therefore does not satisfy the criteria necessary to make some other person other than the author of the work (Silvestri) the author of the name as specified in ICZN 50.1.1
