The name Aprepolestes is masculine under ICZN Art. 30.1.2; lestes is Greek for robber/plunderer/pirate, and is masculine, the original description treated it as a subgenus of Reduvius, so no species names were combined with Aprepolestes (rather they were combined with Reduvius), and the author in no way indicated its gender
