  Comment: Eschmeyer et al. (1/2021) suggests that Acronurus aegyptius is available, but doesn't provide a 'currrent status' statement. J. Randall considered it unidentifiable, as no type specimens are known. The genus it was described in (Acronurus) is a junior synonym of Acanthurus, but it is not clear where this name belongs. ITIS is therefore treating it as a nomen dubium (a name of unknown or doubtful application)
