  Comment: Suckow (1798:37) coined Testudo striata for three species since they were then considered indistinguishable (T. cartilaginea, T. triunguis, and T. rostrata). Under the current zoological Code of nomenclature (ICZN 1999), that's an unnecessary replacement of all three, and since there is no indication of there being an individual type to anchor it to one name or another, it remains a pro parte synonym of the current names of the 3 nominal taxa that were then being combined)
