 Comments

Comment: On page 354 https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/13947512 of Hartlaub (1855) the epithet is spelled without an 's' before the 'c' - macrocelides. However, in an index on page 360 https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/13947518 the epithet is spelled with an s - macroscelides. Assuming the index is an integral part of the article, then per ICZN 24.2.1, the spelling is fixed by the first reviser citing the two names and selecting from them. It appears like Mayr and Cottrell (1979 p. 325 https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/16108965) are the first revisers and selected macroscelides, the most frequent spelling found in the literature
