Megachile canadensis Friese, 1903 was published as a replacement name for Megachile femorata Provancher, 1882 (both now as Megachile melanophaea Smith, 1853 (TSN 761776)), a junior primary homonym of Megachile femorata Smith, 1853 (now as Megachile latimanus Say, 1823 (TSN 154367)) and Megachile femorata Smith, 1879 (now as Megachile femoratella Cockerell, 1918)
