  Comment: Technically, under ICZN Arts. 36.1 and 24.1, all family-group rank (superfamily, family, subfamily, tribe, subtribe) names based on the genus Epictia Gray, 1845 were simultaneously established and are based on the subfamily name Epictinae Hedges, Adalsteinsson and Branch (2009:13). The entry for tribe Epictini (p.15) serves useful taxonomic purposes, but is not the nomenclatural basis for the tribe name
