  Comment: Hutchins (1997:6) notes, 'Monacanthus (Paramonacanthus) knerii Steindachner, 1867, the type species of Laputa [...] is in fact a juvenile specimen of Meuschenia freycineti (Quoy and Gaimard, 1824).' This is also the type species of the junior homonym Monacanthus (Paramonacanthus) Steindachner 1867 (nec Bleeker 1865), which Laputa Whitley, 1930 replaced
