 Comments

Comment: Conrad's 1854 description of Unio altum was incomplete, omitting information on the umbo cavity, an important charcteristic in identification of Mobile Basin Pleurobema; type locality has been given variously by different authors; the type specimen has been lost; therefore Unio altum must be considered a nomen dubium (Williams, Bogan and Garner, 2008)
