 Comments

Comment: Eschmeyer (online Catalog of Fishes) states that "This species dates to Edwards 1771 and not to Bloch 1786 unless the ICZN is petitioned or continued usage maintained... Catesby 1771 is a rejected work, and unavailable (Opinions 89 and 259) but the appendix by Edwards is available." Nonetheless, he also notes (personal communication, November 2002) that the 1999 International Code of Zoological Nomenclature allows continuation of current prevailing usage of authorship and dates, and suggests the continued usage of Bloch 1786
