  Comment: Jefferson & Karczmarski (2001:1) give Steno lentiginosus Gray 1866 as a "renaming of Delphinus lentiginosus Owen," while Hershkovitz (1966:23) uses the Gray name as valid (as Sotalia lentiginosa Gray). Regardless, recent works placed both names in synonymy under Sousa chinensis (Osbeck, 1785)  
    'Thus, we consider that [Delpinus lentiginosus] represents a junior synonym of Sousa plumbea. The possibility still exists that this form represents an intermediate (hybrid) between S. plumbea and S. chinensis, but the current molecular data do not seem to support this supposition...' (Jefferson and Rosenbaum, 2014)
