  Comment: According to the online Catalog of Fishes (2/2021), there are two syntypes for Amphacanthus tumifrons Valenciennes in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1835, and they correspond to two different species, Siganus fuscescens (Houttuyn 1782) and Siganus spinus (Linnaeus 1758)
