 Comments

Comment: Comments: Considered a subspecies of bursarius by Hall (1981) and Patton (1993) but a distinct species by Bradley et al. (1991) and Block and Zimmerman (1991). Baker and Davis (1989) described a hybrid zone with partial reproductive isolation between knoxjonesi and bursarius major. Phylogenetic position within Geomys established by Jolley et al. (2000)
