  Comment: The quagga mussel (epithet bugensis) has been variously treated as an accepted species (multiple works, incl. Stepien et al., 2003), as a subspecies of D. rostriformis (e.g., Therriault, 2005; Voroshilova, 2016), and as a synonym of D. rostriformis (e.g., Stepien et al., 2014).
