 Comments

Comment: A new monotypic genus (Gurneya Brtek 1996) has been proposed for Branchinella mira (Gurney 1931), but in Belk & Brtek (1997), Belk comments that this seems "premature... especially the placing of B. mira in a new genus without making a careful comparison of this taxon with the North American species B. lithaca (Creaser, 1940), B. alachua Dexter, 1953, and B. acacioidea Belk & Sissom, 1992." For now, ITIS is following the conservative approach in that checklist in retaining mira in Branchinella
