  Comment: Marcus (1965) erected the genus Wapsa for a single Brazilian species, Wapsa evelinae. Brinkhurst and Coates (1985) reviewed the status of the genus Paranais in North America, as well as other non-North American taxa assigned to this genus and taxa previously assigned to the genus Wapsa; they determined that the genus Wapsa was a junior synonym of the genus Paranais
