 Comments

Comment: According to Mecklenburg & Sheiko (2004) and Eschmeyer (online Catalog of Fishes, 2004), materials that had been mis-identified as Blennius galerita Linnaeus 1758 (which is currently valid as Coryphoblennius galerita, in Bleniidae) were the basis for Gunnellus stroemii Valenciennes 1836, which is currently in the synonymy of Chirolophis ascanii (Walbaum 1792). Therefore, "Chirolophis galerita" should be considered a misidentification/misapplication, and should in this context be cited with authorship of "(non-Linnaeus, 1758)"
