 Comments

Comment: [The following is excerpted from Oosthuizen, J.H. and Ronald W. Davies (1993:7)]: "We consider the specific name biannulatum to be a nomen nudum because it does not conform to Articles 13 and 73 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (I.C.Z.N.). Although it was proposed as a nomen novum, it does not satisfy Recommendation 13A of the I.C.Z.N. because the only characteristic originally considered by Klemm (1977) to differentiate ti from other named species turned out to be shared by at least two other species in the region, T. rude (Oosthuizen and Davies 1992) and T. bifarium n.sp. The name T. biannulatum also does not conform to Recommendation 73A, which requires an author to clearly designate a holotype, and Recommendation 73B, which indicates that an author should not designate a new species from specimens known to the author only from descriptions or illustrations in the literature."
