  Comment: Micrurus mipartitus rozei Golay et al., 1999 replaces the mis-used 'Micrurus mipartitus semipartitus' that has been attributed to Jan (1858). Jan listed 'E[laps]. semipartitius, Dum. Bib.', and as Jan (1863) made clear, it was intended as an emendation of E. mipartitus Duméril et al., although this was unjustified. Unfortunately, it had come to be misused as a separate subspecies from the nominotypical subspecies (as 'Micrurus mipartitus semiparititus (Jan, 1858)'), so Golay et al. (1999) provided a new name for that subspecies, since the 'Jan' name cannot be used for it
