  Comment: 'A distinctive form of Quadrula asperata, described as Quadrula archeri Frierson, 1905, is restricted to the Tallapoosa River above the Fall Line. [...] At a minimum it warrents subspecific status, as it is morphologically distinct, occurs in a geographically defined area and was isolated by the falls at Tallassee, Elmore County, Alabama, prior to impoundment of the Tallapoosa River.
