    Originally described as Myxostoma following Jordan, 1877. From Eschmeyer's Catalog of Fishes: Moxostoma spelled Myxostoma by Jordan 1877:348, Myxostoma preoccupied by Myxostoma Troschel 1847 in Mollusca.
