 Comments

Comment: The type genus was originally spelled Lafystius, and Agassiz evidently later emended the spelling to Laphystius. The original spelling appears to be in prevailing usage, and as such the emendation would be considered to be an "unjustified emendation" or "incorrect spelling" under the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN). Sars apparently based the family name Laphystiidae on the emended spelling, and under the ICZN (Article 35.4.1) it should be corrected to Lafystiidae, with no change to authorship
