  Comment: Eschmeyer (online Catalog of Fishes, 2004) notes that the originally published spelling was Lionurus darus Gilbert & Hubbs 1916, and says that the epithet is derived from "Dara," the Japanese name of certain Macrouroid fishes, and that "perhaps name should not decline" (so perhaps it should be spelled "darus" regardless of the gender of the current genus)
