  Comment: Apis quadridentata Linnaeus, 1758 (now as Coelioxys conicus (Linnaeus, 1758) is a senior primary homonym of Apis quadridentata Panzer, 1798 (now as Coelioxys acanthura (Illiger, 1806) (TSN 760457))  
    Richards stated in 1935: "The type female of Apis conica Linnaeus...is the female of Apis quadridentata Linnaeus, 1758." Richards, O. W. 1935 (June). Notes on the Nomenclature of the Aculeate Hymenoptera, with Special Reference to British Genera and Species. The Transactions of the Entomological Society of London, vol. 83, no. 1:143-176  
    The specific epithet was originally hyphenated and spelled 4-dentata but corrected to quadridentata per ICZN Articles 32.5.2.3 and 32.5.2.6
