  Comment: Comments: Treated under the name Nycteris by Hall (1981). In Opinion 111 of the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature (1929b), Lasiurus was adopted rather than Nycteris. Atalapha was used for this genus until the early 20th century, when application of the name to bats now included in Lasiurus was shown to date from Peters, not Rafinesque (Hall and Jones, 1961).
