  Comment: Macrostoma angustidens (Risso 1820) is included by implication (from NODC). It is the type species of Macrostoma Risso 1827, of which Eschmeyer (online Catalog of Fishes, 2003) says "Notoscopelus Günther 1864 is an unneeded replacement name, Macrostoma not preoccupied by Macrostomus Weidmann 1817 in Diptera. Currently treated as a synonym of Notoscopelus." Of Scopelus angustidens Risso 1820 (the original combination), Eschmeyer says simply "Myctophidae." ITIS therefore treats this name as incertae sedis in Notoscopelus until this issue is further resolved
