  Comment: Hungerford (1948:733) indicates that the spelling 'variabolis,' as used in the original publication, is a 'typographical error,' as the name is 'correctly spelled on type labels.' This may not meet the ICZN 'Code' criteria for a spelling that must be corrected (Art. 32.5.1, 1999), but since workers in the field have universally adopted the corrected spelling, ITIS will follow them until it is addressed differently by published authors
