  Comment: Based on personal communication from Wayne Starnes (March 2003), and his consultation with other specialists, it appears that while there is a distinct group that has been recognized as the genus Brachydanio, the type species (Nuria albolineata Blyth 1860) definitely belongs in the genus Danio.
