  Comment: The ICZN ruled in 1976 (Opinion 1046) that since the original fish family name spelling Drepanidae Gill 1972 (TSN 555702) was a junior homonym of the lepidopteran family name Drepanidae Boisduval 1828 (TSN 117554), the fish name should be considered an "incorrect original spelling," and corrected it to Drepaneidae Gill 1872 (TSN 701580). The lepidopteran name was also addressed in ICZN Opinion 610 (1961), with regard to the bird family Drepanididae
