  Comment: Lawrence and Newton (1995) indicate that "Cebrionidae" Latreille (1802) has priority for the family name, but we maintain Elateridae here pending resolution of an application to the ICZN being prepared by Paul Johnson (in litteris) proposing precedence of Elateridae (and hence Elateroidea) over Cebrionidae (-oidea)
