  Comment: Lampropeltis triangulum Lacepede, 1789. The correct publication date for this name is 1789 and not 1788 as often seen cited by several workers. In Lacepede's (1788-1789) two volume work there are no snakes mentioned. The snakes are in volume 2 (1789) see also Opinion 1463
