  Comment: Eschmeyer (personal communications, July 2003, and online Catalog of Fishes, 2003) suggests that Percis tetracanthus Bleeker 1853 (preoccupied by, Labrus tetracanthus Lacepède 1801 in Percis, and apparently in Parapercis) "seems to be a separate species description" from Lacepède's. Percis quadrispinosus Weber 1913 is a replacement name for Bleeker's name, and both quadrispinosus and Lacepède's tetracanthus are listed by Eschmeyer in Parapercis. The status of Bleeker's name and of Parapercis quadrispinosa (Weber 1913) remain unclear, however
