  Comment: Kottelat (2001) points out that the type of Aphanacanthus Le Danois, 1959 is Tetraodon hamiltoni and therefore Tetractenos is a junior synonym of Aphanacanthus, but current authors do not follow Kottelat in this; prevailing usage should be researched
